Photography, Video and Visual Art is leading the way that the world communicates. Maryville University’s Bachelors in Photo and Video teaches students how to design, produce, exhibit, and broadcast exciting images and videos. Creators draw from many disciplines to be successful, which is why we offer a built-in Communications Minor for those students interested in social media, and a Studio Art Minor for those interested in painting, drawing, clay, metals, or mixed media.
Explore your passion and gain the skills you need for success in commercial and fine art careers. Use your talents to make a difference in a rewarding career such as, videographer, photographer, filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, art director, media designer, content producer, talent and location scout, stylist, media manager or fine artist. Maryville offers a rigorous career-focused curriculum helping students build a work portfolio through Active Learning projects such as producing videos for Energizer, building sets for fashion photoshoots, and creating commission art for Interior Designers. These immersive projects help students explore careers like adventure journalist, humanitarian journalist, set and lighting designer, sports and concert photographer, location and entertainment scout, fashion and lifestyle photographer, social media producer, filmmaker and more.

Scott Angus MA, MFA Director of Photography and Video Studies encourages students to seek fresh perspectives and be active participants in the world. He gives students a wide lens through which to view the world from his twenty years as a humanitarian and travel photographer and a freelance commercial photographer working in Los Angeles, New York, London and Sydney. Angus has shown work in galleries around the world, led photography and video expeditions abroad, and even photographed humpback whale births in the Pacific Ocean.
Students get to explore their passion and gain the skills that will provide them with a career in the arts, media or entertainment. Students can become photographers, videographers, professional artists, filmmakers, cinematographers, editors, art directors, producers, talent and location scouts, stylists, media managers, social media personalities, talent managers and creative scouts.
